I wanna be that cool chick who decorates my mantel for every holiday - but Valentine's Day always had me stumped. Until I came across some heart shaped cards from Michaels! I grabbed a few packs, turned on my Cricut Maker, and in less than 15 minutes I had a DIY Valentine's Day garland that I'm proud to display! {FTC disclaimer: I received the Cricut for free but this post is mine all mine! This post contains affiliate links so I may make a few pennies if you buy something!}

I'm also thrilled to be joining 43 other makers to celebrate Valentine's Day with some DIY projects - I'm sharing all of them at the end of this post so be prepared to be inspired!

Open the card and lay the twine across the fold.

Use your Mega Runner to apply some adhesive at the top of the heart and at the bottom.

Fold the card closed.

Cut your XO images from glitter cardstock. I used this file in Design Space.

Add foam tape to the back of each letter and adhere.

Coaster Garland-3.jpg

Separate the coasters in to two piles. Run one pile through your Xyron machine and remove the clear film.

Take the second pile of coasters and lay them pattern side down on your work surface.

Lay the twine across the center of the coasters (leaving a "tail" on each end), then peel the adhesive coasters from the Xyron backing one at a time and match/adhere them to the non-adhesive coasters.

Hang and enjoy! This would also be a fun and easy project to do with the kids!

IKEA Hack - Ten Creative Ways to Use A Tolsby Frame

Ten creative ways to use IKEA Tolsby frames! Kingston Crafts

I didn't realize how obsessed I was with IKEA until I didn't live near one. I grew up near one of the originals (shout out to Potomac Mills!) and then as a military spouse who moves every two years I relied on it for cheap-but-cute home decor and supplies. I absolutely took it for granted, until we moved to Kentucky where the closest one is ALMOST THREE HOURS AWAY. Yeeeaaaaaaaah. So after my first visit in over two years where I bought WAY too many paper napkins and enough reusable grocery bags to power our entire town I give you my homage to one of the cheapest and most versatile IKEA items in all the land - the .99 Tolsby Frame.

Michaels Bunny Banner Tutorial

Last week I hosted my first Facebook Live tutorial - and in addition to sharing a glass of wine with everybody we created this fun (and easy) Bunny Banner using a few supplies from Michaels and a Xyron Creative Station! I've shared the video below and am including the supply list and a written tutorial here. The best part about this? You can take these same techniques and create a banner for any theme! {FTC Disclaimer: there are some affiliate links in this blog post - which means I might make a few pennies if you buy something!}

Michaels Bunny Banner

Join us for our Michaels Stores Bunny Banner Tutorial - just in time for Easter!

Posted by Beth Kingston - Kingston Crafts on Thursday, April 6, 2017

SUPPLIES:
one package of foam bunny shapes from Michaels - there are so many great colors in the pack this year!
one multipack of 1.5" pom poms from Michaels  - two different color choices available
Xyron Creative Station with 9" Permanent Refill
two yards of ribbon
liquid adhesive

Divide package of foam bunnies in to two equal piles - making sure there are the same number of each color of bunnies in each pile.

Run one pile through the Xyron Creative Station. Set aside.

On your work area lay the bunnies out about 2" apart.

Lay the ribbon on top of the bunnies across the ears. Make sure you've left a 6-8" "tail" of ribbon on both ends of the banner.

Peel the Xyron adhered bunnies off one at a time and match them to the same color bunny, then press to adhere. Repeat until the banner is finished.

Use liquid adhesive to adhere a pom pom to each bunny and allow to dry.

As Seen on HSN: Free Printables and Laminate Projects

You never know when my smiling face might pop up on HSN - like it did this morning for a quick visit with my friend Carrie Smith for the HSN Home Show! It was my first time introducing Xyron to a "non-craft" audience - but I still brought the cuteness with some fun FREE printables and the coolest laminate projects from some members of the Xyron Design Team!

If you missed my presentation you can find the Xyron Creative Station on Amazon, as well as the laminate refills if you don't already own one. {FTC disclaimer - this post contains affiliate links so I may make a few pennies if you click on them!}

Guys. Did you know you could run FABRIC through the Xyron Creative Station Laminate refill??Jessica Litman of The Organized Mama did - and she created these super cute laminated pouches that would be perfect for backpacks, your purse, as party favors, the list goes on and on. This project has made the non-sewer in me look at fabric in a whole new way!

Boxes. Out of scrapbook paper and laminate. COME ON! Katie King of Running With A Glue Gun Studio used a few pieces of double sided paper to create these little cuties and I cannot wait to try this myself!

It is never to early for Halloween party ideas - and these free printables from kenarry.com were made exclusively for Dasani water bottles...because the green caps are perfect for the stems! Genius!

I used the Spring tree from this set as an example for my "science fair" poster on air - but these cute printables from A Year of FHE could be used for a variety of projects from home schooling to kids crafts and more.

As I mentioned on air - custom backpack tags can cost upwards of $10 each! Who knew? You can create your own with a few stickers, these bright printables from Thirty Handmade Days and your handy Xyron Creative Station with laminate refill.

I love bookmarks almost as much as I love books - so I was over the moon when I found these gorgeous bookmark printables from L'Atelier de Magie!

I've saved all of these projects (and some other fun ones!) on my Pinterest page so they are easy to find. I'd LOVE to see some of the projects you've created with your Xyron laminate refills...and if you've never tried it I CANNOT WAIT for you to get it home and start playing!

Love printables as much as I do? Here are a ton of other ideas that are perfect for your Xyron machine!

As Seen on HSN: FREE Printables

You guys are the best. Seriously. Yesterday was another amazing 24-Hour Craft Day on HSN...thanks as always for watching! So many of you asked about the fun printables I used during my Xyron airings so I wanted to share them all here. I LOVE PRINTABLES!!!!

You can create any of these projects SO easily with the Xyron Creative Station Lite or Sticker Maker - if I can do it on live National TV you can do it at home!  :) Since I've started using printables so much on HSN I've decided to start a Pinterest board to house them all...I have a feeling I'll be filling that board up pretty quickly!

PINK FLAMINGO VALENTINE - EASY KIDS CRAFT PROJECT!

valentine

Last week on HSN I shared a series of Valentine's Day craft ideas - including this guy.  I found him on (of all places) the National Wildlife Foundation website - and although they shared a set of directions we ALL know everything is easier with your handy Xyron machine! So - as requested - here is my latest obsession. I present to you the Pink Flamingo Valentine!

SUPPLIES NEEDED:
Xyron 5" Creative Station - you could also use the NEW Xyron Creative Station
two (2) sparkly foam hearts (I bought mine in a 12 pack at Dollar Tree)
two (2) pink pipe cleaners
one (1) pink feather
small piece of pink cardstock
one (1) googly eye
liquid adhesive
scissors
black pen - I am currently obsessed with this set from Cricut

Insert one heart through the Xyron Creative Station - sparkly side up. Remove clear film and set aside.

Lay second heart sparkly side down on your work area. Fold one pipe cleaner in half for the legs, and form the other in to an Z shape for the neck (you will adjust these later) cut feather in to halves or thirds and lay one piece of feather and both pipe cleaners on the heart as shown.

Peel "sticky" heart from backing, line up with heart on your work area and press down to adhere. This will hold the pipe cleaners and feather in place.

Freehand cut two identical pieces for the head. Adhere the googly eye to one piece with liquid adhesive and use the black pen to draw the beak on the same piece.

Apply liquid adhesive to the second piece and adhere pieces on either side of the pipe cleaner.

Adjust pipe cleaners in to desired position - be sure to fold the feet!

This is a great (and pretty mess-free) project to do with the kiddos...anyone need a last minute idea for a class party? You are welcome. :) Enjoy!

12 Days of Christmas Giveaways {day six} - the Pie Face Game!

Day Six of the 12 Days of Giveaways is all about laughter! Don and I have so many great memories of playing board games as kids - and we are spending this Christmas with ALL of our nieces and nephews (ages 2 - 13) so we were looking for something we could all do together. When we saw this video for the Pie Face Game we KNEW we'd found our answer!

If you have kids in your life (big or little) this is the PERFECT family entertainment - great for any age, perfect for playing in your pjs before you head to bed on Christmas Eve or after all the presents have been opened on Christmas morning, something your kids will love playing with their friends, with each other, and with you! All you need is a few cans of whipped cream and you are ready to go!

Leave a comment here on the blog and tell me if you (or your kids) had a favorite game growing up - one lucky winner (US only for today's giveaway - sorry my international friends!) will receive their own Pie Face Game just in time for Christmas! I'll announce the winner (and the Day Seven giveaway) tomorrow on my Facebook Page. Still lots of great goodies to give away!

30 Days of Xyron - Paper Plate Menorah Kids' Craft!

All month long the gang from Xyron has been creating some gorgeous holiday projects - and today its my turn! {FTC disclaimer: I have received some of these products free of charge. This blog post contains affiliate links so I may make a few pennies if you buy something!}

You all know how I feel about paper plate kids' crafts - I especially love to share them (and be mocked by everyone) when I'm on HSN! This menorah became a little infamous one 24-Hour Craft Day when my fabulous friend Bill Green and I were demoing the Xyron Creative Station Lite - and so many folks asked about it that I made a quick video tutorial!

If you've missed out on some of the other fun holidays projects the Xyron Design Team has shared this month just head on over to the photo section of the Xyron FB page and prepare to be inspired...and tune in all this week for even more great ideas!  Did I mention that EVERY project has a tutorial?  Wahoo!
