Whenever I'm feeling like I need a little kick in the mojo I head to the Hobby Lobby clearance aisle. With cool home decor pieces at super cheap prices I can add a little Plaid Crafts paint or cut out some vinyl with my Cricut Explore Air and create something fun without having to start from scratch. Last week I found a frame (regularly $17.99 on sale for $6.82) and was able to give it a glitzy gold makeover!

SUPPLIES
wood frame
foam brush
masking/painters tape
Folk Art Metallics acrylic paint - Pure Gold
Folk Art Chunky Glitter acrylic paint - Chunky Gold
Cricut Explore Air
Light Grip Mat
Cricut Gold Glitter Vinyl with Strong Grip Transfer Tape (sampler pack shown - see quick tip below)

Mask off area to be painted with masking/painters tape. In this case the glass was attached to the frame so I taped along the edge of the glass as well.

Apply several coats of gold paint to frame (I did two) - allow to dry between coats.

Apply several coats of glitter paint - allow to dry between coats. This paint looks like glue with glitter in it - so it will go on milky white. I did three coats - the more coats you apply the more glittery your project will be!

Yes. I am wearing pajama bottoms in this photo. I'm not sure I'd even showered. Welcome to my life. ;)

Create your phrase in Cricut Design Space, cut out in glitter vinyl and apply directly to the mat. For glitter vinyl you will need strong grip transfer tape.

It is the first thing on the roll so just unroll the entire sampler and you'll find it.*

Reassemble the frame and add your photo.

Shout out to Don for taking this photo of me and Amber (from Damask Love) at the last 24-Hour Craft Day on HSN. I just love it - and her - and him!

I'm still not 100% sure about how to share my project files on Design Space...but we're gonna give it a try! If you'd like to use this #squadgoals image here is the link. Let me know if it works! ;)

I would love to hear from you if you've done any clearance aisle makeovers!
